87 Heads, Hiro+Mari & Maru Teppei

Conceived by leading industry stylists Hiro+Mari, and photographer Maru Teppei, 87 Heads began as an anthology of emblematic hairstyles before blossoming into a love letter to the salon’s East Williamsburg neighborhood. Launched just prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown mandates in New York City, the project was kept alive by the dedicated stylists and neighborhood clients-turned-models for whom the photo series became a beacon of community and creativity, much like hair itself.
